Girls' self defence
On Monday morning a group of year 8 Rimu girls went down to the school gym to learn self defense. A lady called Alison (Ali) taught us on how to get ourselves out of situations. We stayed in the gym for one whole day and a half, while the boys stayed in class doing movies. She taught us punching, kicking and taught us a lot more like hammer, ballerina kick, stomp kick and lots more. Ali taught us the use of evidence and how to keep the DNA on you. We played games in the gym and outside next to the playground, such as princess warrior and bumper tag. Ali gave us tips on the weapons we could use and how to hold them to stop the man taking it out of your hand. My favourite weapon she showed us was the spray, you could spray it in their eyes, hit it into their nose, hit it into their testicles and much more ways to get out of a bad situation. Ali told us who we could run to when we are in trouble, she told us the phone lines we can ring if we need help. We talked about stories and things that related to you. She told us about little girls who had been through the situation and girls who did not make it. My opinion is that i'm glad Ali is teaching young girls like us to get out of bad situations. Im very thankful to Ali and hope to see her around.
