Write a letter to Mr Diver explaining one change you would recommend at TIS.

Dear Mr Diver

I would like to change the disabled class in our rimu area as I liked it how we had a place to play and we had room to eat, and I hate eating on the steps outside the hall. My second thing is that in the winter that we should have track pant, as our p.e shorts are to cold. I would also like to change the uniform way better.

Inquiry

A rose by any other name will never smell so sweet. This quote was made in 1914 known to be as William Shakespeares play "Romeo and Juliet". It is a romance play and is also a little bit of a comedy. This quote is very popular.

The meaning of this quote is (what matters is what something is, not what it is called). I think this meaning mean that dont judge people on the outside, its the inside that counts.

In Act II, Scene 2 of the play, the line is said by Juliet in reference to Romeo's house, would imply that his name means nothing and they should be together.

Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,

Dear Santa,

Hope 2013 has been going well for you. Dont worry Santa, this year I don't have a long list, like last year hahaha. I will also make sure I leave cookies and milk, but if I was you I would go for a run after visiting child's homes, eating big cookies.

For this Christmas, I don't want to much this year. I cant think of things I want this year but if I had to choose, they would be
Money,
vouchers,
Iphone 5 c,
and a new trampoline.

I would like money so that I can go shopping in the christmas holidays, I would like a Iphone 5 c  so that next year for collage I have a phone to text my mum when I need to get picked up and stuff, I would also like a new trampoline, because the trampoline we have now is broken and we need a new one and its not trust worthy for kids to jump on it and doing flips, as I hurt my foot this year caused from the springs.

Thank you Santa. I dont aspect to get all of these, but it would be very generous if you get all of them :)

The Port of Tauranga

The Port of Tauranga is a huge place that stores logs and is actually 113.4 hectors of land. Logs are keeped in the shape of a triangle so that logs do not roll down. There is 186 staff that help around the port of Tauranga. The staff work 45 hours a week. Tauranga gets pine logs into cargo ships, transported by trains, or driven by a truck so they can get shifted back to Asia,China and Korea. Asia send us pine logs, and we turn it into paper, and other materials, we do this because Asia is to big to secure a area for to work with logs.

When you cut a pine tree down from the forest, the rule is that you have to plant three more trees to replace that one. It takes 20 years for a pine tree to grow strong and tall. Once the trees get transported to Asia, Korea, China or any other country, they then get made into houses, furniture, paper, pencils, and any other materials.

C3 is a place in tauranga that looks after logs. Every year C3 takes in or transports 23 million pine trees a year,

Movie review: Tooth Fairy

Tooth fairy was directed by Michael Lembeek. The stars of the movie is Dwayne Johnson, Ashley Judd, and Julie Andrews. Tooth fairy was released in 2010 January the 22nd. This movie is based on a story, when a man named Derek Johnson was just an ordinary person that had a girlfriend and had two kids. But one day an extraordinary thing happend, he suddenly appeared with little pink tutu's and fairy wings and even ballet shoes. Derek got transported to a tooth fairy land. There was fairy's everywhere. The tooth fairy queen gave him a task that he had to in a week collect kids tooth's under their pillows.

My opinion on this movie is, its a very good movie for young kids from aged 5-12. My rating is probably 8/10. Tooth fairy is a very good movie and it is very good for a family night movie.

Today at 9.00 am, year 8 girls went to visit TGC (Tauranga Girls College). We went down there on buses. We went into their gym, and we had a welcome from the TGC Kapa Haka. The deputy principal   Mrs Ferguson had a talk to us about all the opportunities, and the sports and cultural activities we can get involved with. Then we had the head girl of TGC talk to us, her name is Adriana Bird. After we had all the talk, we went into small groups with 3 or 2 Tauranga Girl year 9 students. They showed us around and talked to us about the activities, houses, and other things. My highlight was to seeing year 9's that used to be in Tauranga Intermediate and also seeing their huge swimming pool. I cant wait till next year but i'm a little nervous.

"I was thinking that I could get pocket money every 2 weeks", begged Sasha.
"No, you don't do stuff around the house, why would I give you pocket money?", yelled her dad.
Sasha sighed as she knew she wasn't going to be able to get her parents to do what she asked.

kayaking in the freezing cold,
avoiding falling into still river,
shivering as the rain fell upon us,
pulling myself up to the bouncy tramp,

jumping onto the humungous square just sitting on the river.

12 hour relay poem

I took my first step on the freezing cold, green grass.
As I walked towards the Rimu tent, I could hear people cheering on others as they cross the finnish line.
The teams filling up their water bottles, right up to the top.
I walk into the classroom to see the whole house all red and ready to go.
I ran 6 laps in the fun run, until I could feel the pains in my foot.
I helped Miss Campbell and Miss Mackenzie with the hose.
The activities was up next, I took photos and sprayed people with water.
We then headed to 12 hour relay concert.
It was cool but very long to sit on the hard seats.
It was then the end of the day, I had to go home, but I wanted to stay.

200 word story about 12 hour relay.

We set up for the big day. Everyone helping and putting up their tents for their teams. Everyone getting over excited and ready to run 12 hours. The teams warming up. Kids fulling up their water bottles. The first team starting to line up......."BEEP, BEEP". They ran from the starting line. Suddenly "ahhhhhhh", everyone screaming as the ground shacked and shacked. Parents and children trying to find cover. It took five minutes to stop. Then everyone trying to find their love ones. Sadly, Caitlin, Sasha, Sattori, Lauren, Jahna and Sharnae died in the earth quake. Everyone started crying as they all died. Then suddenly there was a lockdown, these guys with big guns running after everyone and shooting the survival people left from the earth quake. Mrs Mill's jaw opened wide as she saw the killer coming towards her, as she ran to the toilets and locked herself inside and she hid behind the toilet crunched as a little baby. Miss Campbell ran up to the killer and pucnhed his nose, nose  throat, throat, guts, guts, nuts , nuts. But the killer shot her and she fell onto the broken, wet ground. Then the whole school cried as they lost a lot of people from the amazing school Tauranga Intermediate.

I've got some older friends (I'm 13, they are 14/15) Who have invited me to a party on Saturday night at someone's house. I'm pretty sure everyone there will be drinking. I've never had alcohol before. I'm going to tell my parents that I'm staying the night at my friend's. I feel quite nervous, cause I know it's bad. What should I do?

Don't go, if you know there will be alcohol there don't even go. If you go, you could get into a rough situation. If you don't want to go and you shouldn't even go make up an escuse say you have something on that weekend , say you have sports or you have to go on a vacation with the family. Kids your age, shouldn't even be going to parties your to young and you never know you might be peer pressured to taking a sip of ahcahol.

Day with Mrs Gilmore

Yesterday Miss Campbell was sick, so we had to have a reliever called Mrs Gilmore. We first started off with the day by doing the notices and the roll. Then we went up to the hall to do social dance. It was then maths time, we did the reflection sheet (it was quite fun but confusing) . After that it was morning tea. After morning tea we came back and we found out that in the gym we had a man from the S.P.C.A come in and teach us about Animals and humans. He shared with us about his background information and told us that animals and humans have the same life to humans. My opinion: Is that I think that animals are the same as humans. Because animals and humans can go through the same things like being abused, being treated not well and much more. The S.P.C.A presentation took till lunch time. After lunch time we came to class and finished off task like homework, monster university writing, maths sheet and more.

Girls' self defence

On Monday morning a group of year 8 Rimu girls went down to the school gym to learn self defense.  A lady called Alison (Ali) taught us on how to get ourselves out of situations. We stayed in the gym for one whole day and a half, while the boys stayed in class doing movies. She taught us punching, kicking and taught us a lot more like hammer, ballerina kick, stomp kick and lots more. Ali taught us the use of evidence and how to keep the DNA on you. We played games in the gym and outside next to the playground, such as princess warrior and bumper tag. Ali gave us tips on the weapons we could use and how to hold them to stop the man taking it out of your hand. My favourite weapon she showed us was the spray, you could spray it in their eyes, hit it into their nose, hit it into their testicles and much more ways to get out of a bad situation. Ali told us who we could run to when we are in trouble, she told us the phone lines we can ring if we need help. We talked about stories and things that related to you. She told us about little girls who had been through the situation and girls who did not make it. My opinion is that i'm glad Ali is teaching young girls like us to get out of bad situations. Im very thankful to Ali and hope to see her around.

Savant is a special ability, its people who can memorize and answer a lot of questions including math, calculations and more. No matter how many numbers you calculate the pi number never ends. Well a man named Daniel Tammet is autistic. He took several weeks to prepare the calculations of the Pi numbers. He remembered 10,000 numbers of the Pi number. Daniel Tammet thinks of numbers as a image or a object eg: He could think 9 is a roundly, soft, big clouds. One of the answers was 17x17x17, Daniel Tammet answered in under 10 seconds as he has a talent, and of course people like us would not of been able too answer that in under 10 seconds.

Bullying
Bullying is not good as heaps of teens and even young kids have committed suicide caused from bullying. I think bullying is bad, it hurts peoples feelings and not only it makes them angry. I have been experienced from bullying, I got talked behind my back from someone that used to be my best friend.
My opinion is that bullying should be stopped right away. I think that the bully, bully's because the bully may have had experienced from bullying or they want to be cool and make others down and I think thats not fair, I think that everyone should be nice to each other, and not bully.

Bullying can be also be used as pushing, taking control of someone else body. Over 3.2 million kids are included with bullying each year. Approximately 160,000 teens skip school as from bullying. 71 percent of kids report bullying at their school. 1 out 10 students drop out of school caused from bullying.

For and against :

Takeaways

For:
* When your sick, you dont have to cook, so you can just order some fast food. And also some takeaways can bring you the food to your doorstep.
* When your away, on a holiday and your on the way home and its late and you haven't had dinner you cant just stop and get takeaways and then carry onto the road.

Against:
* Fast food is bad for you. If you eat to much take aways you can actually put on more weight.
* Take aways can sometimes forget something of your order. Like if you order a Mcchicken burger from McDonalds they may not pack your burger in the bag and then someone will moan and get angry and get hungry.
*Take aways may under cook your chicken or over cook your chicken or even other food, then you can get food poison.

I money good or bad?

For
* Money can be good because you need money to buy food for yourself and your family, or you will starve with no food. No money, no food.
* You need money to buy a house for your family and you. If you dont have a house you will be homeless and live on the streets.
* Money can be also good, because you need money to buy a car for transport to work, friends place, supermarket and other places you need to go to.

Against:

* Money can be bad, cause money leeds to buying drugs, smokes and alcohol.
* Money can be also bad because you can spend money on gambling. If you spend all your money on gambling and you dont get anything in return you won't be able to afford food, house and a car.

1. I get really annoyed when I'm bored at home, because I hate sitting around all day.
2. People who talk behind your back, because when you find out it really hurts. And when also a friend lies to you for a very long time.

I get really annoyed when seagulls poop on you. Once me and my brother were in the car and he had his hand out the window and a minute later a segull pooped on his hand and he started to scream. It really annoys me when also your at school and the seagulls poop on you and then everyone starts laughing and then you have to change your clothes.

Is jazz better than hip hop?

For
* Jazz can be better because its all jumpy and hip hop can be not jumpy.
* You wear comfortable shoes for jazz, and you wear horrible shoes for hip hop.
* Hip hop can be sometimes to fast, and you might loose your balance and maybe
*

Against
* In jazz, some moves can be really hard, but in hip hop some moves are way easier.
* In jazz, when you do the jazz splits, it can hurt ur self very badly.

Computer gaming is good for people.

For:

* You can play when you get bored.
* In the weekend, when you dont have much to do, you can play gaming and then it will keep you entertained.

Against:

* If you stare at the computer screen for a long time you could badly damage your eye sight.
* If you stay in your room all day playing over and over again you won't get fit because you will hardly go outside and move about.

In the holidays, I did not do that much, all I did was dance practice for this Saturday, as I have my dance school production at Baycourt. On the first week my parents went down to my cousins bush house, and the kids didn't go so I had my nana come down and look after us for the weekend. On the second week we had heaps of visits from family and friends. There was a big surprise as my baby cousins Charlie-rae and James came down to see us, as I haven't seen them because they live far away from tauranga. Later on in the week I went to the movies to go see Despicable me in 2D with my little brother Liam, my brother Hamish, my older sister Chanel and her boyfriend Brandon, it was really funny, but on the way home my little brothers were repeating all the voices they made.

Term2 Overview

This term would probably be my favourite term so far as we had camp, cross country, production, technology and science fair. For camp we stayed at Ngamuwahine for a week. We did a lot of fun activities like paintball, rafting, kayaking, made dampers, absailing, rock climbing, high ropes, flying fox, cooking night, sleep in the bush and much more. This term we also had cross country. We ran three kilometeres around the school. The year 7 girls went first then year 7 boys then year 8 girls then year 8 boys. My placing was 125 out of 260 girls in the year 8 girls. Later on in the term production was flying by, we had heaps and heaps of practices during school, out of school and at Bay court. Production would of been my favourite thing this term, as I was a dancer for the swan lake scene and the final countdown scene. We spent a week down at Bay court practicing all day and had our real performance at night. On the same week as production we had science fair coming up, I was very stressed as I was at production performances and practices, so i did not do that much science fair, so I had to stay up late at night to work on it. My science fair idea was Dance shoes or bare feet, I chose this topic because my favourite

Excellence in the arts- E6- Join the production.

In week 9 I was involved in the school production called Most Triumphant Tale. I was a dancer, I danced in Swan lake and Final countdown and was also in the finale. We practiced a lot during school and after school and even in the weekends. In the week of production, on that monday we had to meet all in the hall at 9.00 to go on the buses down to Bay court, we had to go down to Bay court to practice all day, for 3 hours they spent doing the lighting and touches up, it was so boring. On Tuesday we had to do the same thing but go there to practice again, then that night it was the real night. On the real night, it was really fun. The dancers had to turn up at 5.30 pm at night, we had to be there that early just to get ready and put make up on. Our show started at 7.00 and finished at 9.00 pm. On the Wednesday I woke up sick so I didn't get to do the matinee and do the night show. On the Thursday was the last day of production, we had to go on buses down to Bay court as we had another matinee, we were preforming infront of Tauranga Intermediate, it was very frightening but also fun, that night was our last one, there were a lot of people, at the end Miss Coville did a speech and us kids gave flowers and chocolate to the cast and of course Miss Story and Jess. I had a lot of fun and hope to have that experience some time again.

Book review

James and the Giant Peach

This book is when a little boy named James had a happy life until he was 4 years old. He lived peacefully with his mother and father in a beautiful house beside the sea. There were plenty other children for him to play with. Then one day James mother and father went to London to do some shopping, and there a terrible thing happend. Both of them suddenly got eaten up by an enormous angry rhinoceros which had escaped from London Zoo. James is then packed off to live with his two really horrible aunts, Sponge and Spiker. Poor james is miserable, until something peculiar happens and James find himself on the most wonderful and extraordinary journey he could ever imagine.

Book rating & opinion : This book was very good and I never read Roald Dahl but now I think I might keep reading his books and my rating for it would be a 10/10.

Book review

Small Blue Thing

This book is about a girl named Alex, she's confused because she doesn't know who to believe Callum or Catherine because one of them truly cares for her and the other wants to prey on her memories. One day after her school exams, Alex finds an extraordinary bracelet set with a mysterious blue stone buried in the Thames mud. She discovers that she can use it to communicate with rivers dead. Condemned to a half-life of misery, they must steal the happened of the living to exist. Callum- desperate, lonely and breathtakingly good- looking- is one of them. Alex falls deeply in love. And Callum loves her.

Book rate & opinion : I think this book was very interesting and good, my favourite part was when she found the bracelet and her adventure began. My rating for it would be a 9/10.

Explanation on a game/ Sims free play late night.

Sims free play late night is a game that you play on a apple computer. Its when you make a family and dress them up and choose what you want them to wear and also eg: makeup, face and some features. When you have done that your allowed to choose a first name and a last name. When that is finished you get to buy a house, you get to choose out of city or hometown. Theres a town, and theres all these other houses, and you get to choose which house you want to buy. Theres heaps of cheats that I know which is mother mode and thats when you get heaps of money. You get to also decorate your home and you get to add cool as stuff to your house and have a pool, spas and heaps more outdoor objects and furniture. When you have finished your home you get to start playing around, you can go to town and go shopping and stuff. On Sims free play late night theres vampires around the city and you can become friends with them and if you can become a vampire from asking them, but they only do it if your really good friends with them.

My opinion about this game is that its really fun and its addicting and you never get tired of it.1

Flooding down in South Island New Zealand.

Down in the south island there has been flooding caused by raining. In Christchurch there is around 100mm of rain has fallen in 24 hours, caused huge flooding. Dozens of roads in Dunedin are flooded and State Highway 1 between Dunedin and Oamaru is closed at several points. Some schools were forced to close for the day, including Christ the King School in Burnside, Rangiora High School, and Ashley and Sefton primary in North Canterbury. The Ashley River bridge at Rangiora is closed due to high water levels and Avon rivers is extremely rising.

My opinion : My opinion is that its not very good and I hope that this will be fixed because I hope it doesn't turn into the problem what happend in Australia.

The weekend.

On Friday I was not feeling well and ended up not going to school, sadly I also didn't go to dancing practise. It was very boring at home and sore as I had a big migraine. All I did was worked on my science fair as I really do need to catch up as I've lately had a lot of practise for production.

On Saturday I just stayed at home, feeling way better than Friday. All I did was watch this movie didn't know what it was called but it was very scary. Later that day my mum went to go buy the science boards and colour cardboard. When she came home, I got right stuck into my science fair, because I haven't got anything on my board yet.

On Sunday I went to school to practise for the production. It was at 1.00 pm till 4.00 pm. It was very boring at first but then it got a little better when I started to dance. During the practise we just sat there and did nothing. After the production Leah, Bree and I went down to candy planet to get some lollies. Unfortunately it was raining, so we did not do that much. After that I just went home and relaxed, I didn't do much. Later on I started to get a headache and started to not feel well, so I went to bed early. When I woke up this morning I started to feel much more better, lets just hope it wont come back for the rest of the day.

My poppa is a very interesting person, his name is Mick Barnett. He trained in the army in war world 2. He was 76, but unfortunate he past away on the 21st of august 2010. We usually visit him in Te Awamutu where is grave was buried. He went on heaps of cruise before he past away, he went on the huge fairy around the world. He would comb his hair every morning in the mirror and he would also shave his beard. My poppa lived in the mount, he shared a home with the lady named Jean she's like my nana as my two nana's past away before I was born so I never got to meet them unfortunate, so my poppa moved in with Jean and she's aways been like my nana. My poppa was so nice, he would take me to bay wave and bay fair every time when I was at their house for the weekend. Every time when I come over the first thing when I walk into the door he says "would you like a lollie"? Haha it was so generous. I really miss my poppa, hope to meet him again.

Charging laptops at school

* What are the negatives of Rimu students charging their laptops at school ?
1. The school has to pay a lot of money because us kids are using the power from using chargers.
2. Their just sitting everywhere and us kids could trip over them and hurt ourselves.
3. Once someone brings a charger everyone would have a habit of bringing their own chargers.

* What are 2 of the suggestions for solving the problem?
1. To save battery just turn your brightness down and also turn your internet off when not using the internet.
2. We could bring notes if we did not charge our laptops the night before and then the class leaders could read the note and judge if its a good explanation why they did not charge their laptops.

* What is your opinion about Rimu students charging their laptops at school ?
1. Well I dont hink its fair because Tauranga Intermediate's money would been spent on charging from Rimu and then the main streams classes dont get any furniture and good things.

The weekend

On Friday night after my Irish dancing I went to Grace's house to do the 40 hour famine with her and Felila. Me and Felila were doing no talking for 40 hours, Felila started early that day during school, Sadly I stopped talking after 15 minutes, I was really relieved that I could talk again but I was also disappointed that I stopped before 40 hours. We stayed up until around 11.00 at night, we ate chips, drinks, lollies and marshmallows. The next morning we woke up about 10.00 am, Grace's nana made us breakfast pancakes and bacon, It was yummy. When we finished our breakfast we went down to the lake down at the reserve/park there was a lake and had a tree with a tyre hanging from it, Felila wanted to swing on it across the lake, she had about 3 turns and then I wanted to have a turn, I was very nervous but really wanted to have a go, I jumped onto it and swinged across the lake, sadly Grace was to scared to have a turn. We left and went back to her house, Felila had to leave to go to her netball game so me and Grace were left to do nothing. Later on that day me and Grace made cupcakes, we got the ingredients and started cooking she did the dry and I did the wet ingredients, we suddenly finished and put them in the oven, Grace then started to make the icing it didn't very look good but oh well. 15 minutes later the cupcakes finished and were very brilliant, we then put on the icing it was very funny cause they looked a mess but to be honest they were very delicious. Later we then went to Kaewa's house, we went for a walk down to the shops and got coke, chips and a cheese cake. We went back home and went on the computer and we also ordered pizza hut, we waited for nearly an hour for dinner. We went to bed at 12.00 am in the morning. The next morning we woke up and watched tv Kaewa's little sister was annoying us and playing around. We had weetbix for breakfast. It then came to lunch time and Kaewa's mum Wendy made us some sausage rolls it was very nice. At 2.00 pm on Sunday afternoon Carol Grace's mum picked me and Grace up from Kaewa's house, Carol was waiting for us out side on top of the drive way waiting in the car, we had to run cause it was raining very hard. We hopped into the car and Carol dropped me off at home. I had a very fun time, hope to do that again.

How did the dinosaurs become extinct?

Well scientist think that a volcano may of cause the death of the dinosaurs. They predict that the volcano erupted and pumped out so much ash it blocked out the sun and killed the dinosaurs. Also some scientist think that it may of been an ice age that caused their death. There is also another predict that their must of been a disease that spread around all the dinosaurs and caused them to extinct.

BP Technology Challenge

On Friday morning, me, Jessica, Milly, Cole and Matt went to participate in the BP Technology challenge. Mr Marsh out science teacher was running the challenge. Different schools around Tauranga came to Tauranga Intermediate to go up against us. Our first instructions was to read the instructions in 5 minutes, Then 5 minutes later we had to start to build our construction. The object we had to build was a construction that can hold a marble ball, and it has to be 5 cm off the ground, we only got given straws, scissors, bag, cellotape, marble, and more objects , our construction had to be finished in 20 minutes. Mr Marsh suddenly stopped the time, the construction was a success but unfortunately we accidentally went over the time, we were very honest and told Mr Marsh we went over the time. Task 3 was to build a construction that could keep a egg safe and not crack, we had to drop the construction with a egg in it and you have to try not break the egg. Once you drop your egg and if it doesn't break you can go higher.

Story starters

Once upon there was a man named John who had a hippo as his pet. One day He went out to feed him and suspected that his hippo Marlo was sick. He was rowelling and making weird noises, The man didn't know what was going on. The man tried to feed him " Come here Marlo, come on I know you want some food", but Marlo didn't want it. Marlo started to get angry and he looked like he wanted to eat John. The birds started to shiver in the trees making the tree rattle with a wake ness. Marlo started to come out of his habitat, and he started to walk towards John. John started to get scared and started to back up. Marlo looked like he wanted to eat John, then suddenly Marlo ran up and and opened his wide mouth and was ready to have his dinner, but then a lady came out of no where "move John" and the lady Mary just pulled out her gun and shot the hippo.

Heart rate

Heart rate is determined by the number of heartbeats per minute of time. The measurement of heart rate is used by medical professionals. 12 year olds heart rate should be in between 70-110 beats per minute when the child is at rest. To mesure your heart rate you put your two fingers on your risk and count how many beats you have per minute. When you start to get older our heart beats tend to get slower and your heart goes weaker.

* 1 cup of grated cheese
* 2-3 rashers bacon, chopped (optional)

1. Trim the crusts from the bread and brush one side of each slice with a little melted butter.
2. Push the bread slices, buttered side down into 12 muffin tins.
3. Bake at 180c for 15 minutes until crispy. At this stage the cases can be cooled and kept in an airtight container.
4. Fill the cases evenly with a spoonful of Watties Spaghetti. Top each with equal quantities of grated cheese and chopped bacon if using.
 5. Bake at 180c for 15 minutes until the cheese has melted, the bacon crispy and filling hot.

Room 43

Yesterday groups of 5 went at a time to visit room 43 next to us, they had to move because a couple weeks ago there was a fire caused by an air conditioner left on over night. For a week builders have been building a room for them, they will be staying in the new room 43 until the old room 43 is finished. When room 42 and room 41 got the news that room 43 would be moving into our Rimu area I was very annoyed that they took our place, but ever since I meet them yesterday I changed my idea. I had a lot of fun yesterday meeting them. Theres a boy named Bobby he was very helpful, he showed us around the classroom, it was very interesting to find out what difference they have then us. I hope to work with them sometime.

Plastic

Alexandra was born in 1813 and died 1890. He was the first man who made plastic. He demonstrated parkesine in 1862 at the exhibition in London which was awarded a prize medal. It lead to a commercial and had a success of plastic products. Plastic is important because you wouldn't be getting fresh food, computers, tv, cars etc all this has plastic in it so if we did not have plastic we would not have these things.

Science experiment

In primary school year 4, we had Miss Senegal, she prepared a science experiment for us. We had to get into a group of 5 of girls and boys. The equipment we needed was news papers, straws, scissors, sellotape and a hot wheel. The first step was to gather all the straws and try make a balance bridge, we then had to sellotape them to together. We had a difficulty when the straws were coming unbalanced and falling over thats mean we had to start over again. We then had to sellotape the newspapers onto the straws and try make a bridge. When we were finished and the bridge was ready we could try and experiment if the bridge could handle the hot wheel, if it could we were allowed to add more hot wheels. Our bridge got up to 7 hot wheels and we won for the most balanced bridge.

Camp

On Monday 6th May 2013, Rimu house went to Ngamuwahine camp for the week until the 11th of May. The activities were paintball, rafting, mountain biking, archery and can shooting, rock climbing wall, abseling.

I'm proud that I did the rabbit run when I didn't want to do it at first but when my team needed me to do it for more points I ended up doing it. It was really fun but very sore.

Believe it or not that at Ngamuwahine the water was really freezing it was known to be 8 degrees.

It made me laugh when I was running in paintball in the fields and I tripped on a stub and went flying into a tree and nearly got shot by David.

The biggest challenge was in rafting. In my team we had me, Grace, Catherine and Caine. We had  huge problem that Catherine had a fright and swam back to the parents and we could not leave without her I swam back in the cold water and helped her across the river. If I had not of did that we would have not got points for our team.

The tastiest treat I had at camp was the american hot dogs and the popcorn given by Steffanie's mum Ann.

The most rewarding was the bonus points for my team, we got 2 bonus points from paintball as we got the flag 2 times.

Boston marathon suspects

Investigators think that they have finally found the man who did the bomb in Boston. They found a video when the bomb hit them they saw two mean drop a bag in the area of where it exploded. They think they could be the suspects they said they saw the man drop the bag at the finnish line and ran off. They are not highly sure that they are the men that caused the bomb at the Boston Marathon.

My opinion is that Im very glad that they have suspects on you could be the men and I hope everyone that is hurt hope gets better.

Dog left in car and ate $500

A dog named Sundance in the US has eaten $500 as the dog was left in a car. This man's name was Wayne he left his dog alone in the car as he went to a restaurant in Colorado to eat dinner. The 12 year old dog had an idea to eat some money worth of $500 for its dinner. The man didn't want to waste that much money so he collected all the pieces from the dog and put it all together and replaced it at the US department. But hes been told that the process to replace will take up to 2 years at least.

My opinion is that I feel sorry for that man $500 is a lot of money and 2 years is a very long time to wait.

Plane crashes into sea in Bali

A plane in Bali has crashed as they missed the runway and crashed into the sea. There were 101 passengers on the plane and all of them were luckily to survive and dozens were injured to the cause of the crash. The plane fuselage split in two just behind the wings after they landed into the sea and crashed. The plane was heading towards to Denpasar's Ngurah Rai International Airport. The Airplane is banned from US and European airspace due to safety concerns.

My opinion is that all the passengers were very lucky to survive and also they should of tried to be careful.

Tauranga Intermediate School fire

At Tauranga Intermediate firefighters were called in at 5.15 pm on the 18th of April on a Sunday night to put out the fire. They think it was caused by an electrical fault. They say they got there just before it could have gotten even worse. Luckily no one was in the building at that time and no on was injured. The firefighters was there intill 8pm to make sure they left no spots to have be started another fire.

My opinion is that they were very lucky that no one was injured and I hope they did make sure they checked that there was no other fire.

At 10.00 am we went down in cars and meet there outside, we had to wait 5 minutes until we started dancing as there were other acts on.  Here is a movie of me and my  dance group dancing.

Giving, GB - Look after an egg for a week without breaking it

For a week I've been looking after a egg. I had to be responsible as I wanted to success this goal to not break the egg in a week. I achieved my goal to not breaking it.

What was the most challenging part of looking after the egg? That would probably trying to take it everywhere I go its so hard and also trying not to drop it.

Why did you choose this topic? Because I wanted to help with my responsibilities and I thought it would be fun to try.

Rimu house swimming sports

On the 22nd of March Rimu house walked down to Memorial park pools for swimming sports. The races I swam in were 25 freestyle, breaststroke, doggy paddle and the class relay. The highlight of the day for me was watching Hoani and Mr Mossop race for who can breath and swim the longest and unfortunately for Hoani Mr Mossop won. I enjoyed participating in the class relay and winning. A memory I would keep of swimming sports would be having a fun time with my friends and winning the class relay.
